Just in time for the upcoming Holiday season, the Kansas Food Bank - TopicsExpress

Just in time for the upcoming Holiday season, the Kansas Food Bank received a semi-truck load of turkeys from Cargill for distribution through its HungerCare partners. Turkeys will be distributed to pantries across the Kansas Food Bank 85 county service area. The first pallet will leave the food bank on Thursday and be distributed in Coldwater, Bloom and Hugoton. In addition, Cargill Cares presented their matching grant opportunity to raise funds for the Kansas Food Bank’s Food 4 Kids program which serves chronically hungry children on the weekend. Currently there are 6,392 children in 370 schools in 64 counties that rely upon this weekend packet of food. Benefits that our school coordinators report include better attendance, improved grades, less truancy and an overall better attitude towards school. Children come to school on Monday better prepared and ready to learn. We appreciate Cargill’s ongoing support to help us reach food insecure families who rely on the Kansas Food Bank and our agencies stated Brian Walker, President & CEO of the Kansas Food Bank. Our partners at Cargill are instrumental in ensuring hunger relief efforts are a top priority. This gift of turkeys will help put many meals on the tables of our pantry guests. And their support of our Food 4 Kids program will double the impact we have in reaching hungry children.”
