Just looked at the Obamacare plans. Even with a credit, the affordable plans offered are not worth it to someone who rarely goes for medical care. Most have high deductibles that would have to be met before it pays 50%. If a healthy person only goes to the Dr. a few times a year for a routine checkup or minor illness they will be spending less money paying for the visits out of pocket, than what the premiums will cost yearly (even with the credit). I am not sure what the penalty would be if you dont have coverage, but it looks to me that it would be cheaper to pay the fine than for coverage that has a yearly deductible you may never meet. #notafanofaffordablehealthcare
