Just my thoughts after a few beers. I spent 16 years in the grocery business. I gave my 2 weeks at Winn Dixie, as a 3rd manager, in the summer of 1997. The corporate guys had not worked in a WD store for eons, and they had no clue on how to run a grocery store. My actual job, I loved. When I wasnt cutting hours. No matter the 24-30 skids in the back, waiting to be thrown. Hey, corporate. I was a glorified stock person. On a scale of 1-5, I always got a 4.7 or higher on my reviews for customer service. I was secret shopped 2 times, and I got 2 awards. So I quit. That said, a cashier at my local WD, seemed like she did not give a crap while ringing up my stuff, and put my laundry detergent in with my BOGOF Hungary Man dinners. This is bagging 101. No soap products bagged with food. And then she asked if I wanted my 2 pair of 4 packs of a certain garbage American beer in a bag. Yea...duh. I dont expect great customer service all of the time, because the grocery biz is hectic, but at least act like you care. She didnt. I will say this, this is rare for the WD store I frequent, and they seem to me they are putting more focus on customer service. Kudos! And I never ring that bell when I walk out the door.. .unless a WD associate says hi to me as I walk past them, then I will ring the bell. 1 time. And I hate that thing. If an associate will actually show me where a product is, instead of just saying aisle 18, Ill ring the crap out of that bell. Sorry for the length, I just had to get this crap off of my chest.
