Just paid Apple $100 to extend my developer license for another year. Apple does not only want people to pay for the devices, they also want developers to pay for the right to make applications for those devices. Even if these applications are free. Oh and if you sell it, Apple takes 30% of the sale. I cannot imagine what it will be like if someday Autodesk starts charging people for the right to write add-ins for Revit.
