Just preordered The Uninvited (1944 version) which Criterion Collection will be releasing on October 22nd. We already had this film on VHS but wanted to add it to our DVD library. If youre looking for something special to watch for Halloween (and arent into the skin, violence, and gore in most of the newer films) this is the film to see. The Uninvited, based on a novel by Dorothy Macardle titled Uneasy Freehold, is classy with great writing, acting, and a beautiful old seaside mansion. It is also recognized as the very first serious ghost movie. The movie is pretty family friendly. There is an affair that is talked about but not seen. Holland showed this film at her 12th birthday slumber party. But I dont believe most children under 12 would be able to follow the plot.
