Just read a post from Paul Manly about the future of the energy industry in Canada. Paul is a nominee in the Green Party of Canada - Nanaimo Ladysmith riding. After January 12th, we will know if he is an actual candidate. I will be supporting him. I quote his post: The Green Party is the only party opposed to any further pipeline expansion for the export of raw bitumen from the Alberta tar sands. There are almost two million barrels of oil per day pumped out of the tar sands, which are being exploited too rapidly at the current rate. We don’t need additional infrastructure projects that will require a further increase. Instead, we need a solid plan to switch from fossil fuels to sustainable green energy sources. The Green plan will create more jobs and a more stable economy than the current petro-state, energy super-power plan that the Harper Conservatives are imposing on Canada.
