Just read that Robert Redford has now decided to both star in and direct the film version of "A Walk in the Woods" and that he will play the Bill Bryson part while Nick Nolte will play Katz. I knew that Redford owned the rights to the book, but assumed he would direct and cast younger actors in the leads. I mean Redford and Nolte have got to be at least 20 years older than Bryson and Katz would have been at the time they hiked the AT. For those of you who have read and loved this book, I am sure you share my extreme trepidation about this project. I see Jack Black as Katz. As Bryson, hmmm, gotta think about that one.
