Just read that whoooooooole thread (all the threads) and realized i couldnt comment at the end cause i hadnt joined the group. But now im here.. oh yeah.. So.... Actually nyc does have a large re-entry event. It isnt officially sanctioned because screw the hoops you have to jump through. Its called Gratitude nyc. Its been happening the last 4 years and its AWESOME. Also tiered. Starts at 25 and its 60 at door. All the production value as Seattle, no kissing bmorgs ass. (Also double the size cause nyc) Although non of the transperancy and its so incrdibly expensive to throw an event here that its unlikely there is anythjng left at the end. Some volunteers get tickets, some do it for the fun. Never been an issue. Its not perfect but meh. What you guys are doing and what the money is being raised for is sooooo amazing. We flew from nyc to come last year and i was blown away by how incredibly more beautiful the comunity has become and that the proceeds go to fund art... are you all seriously whining about this? Critical was also exceptional. The amount of actual art at the event was unbeleivable. Yay you. Yay ignition nw. Yay seattle burn community. Ignition nw co-opting decom?!?! Ignition NW was created because seattle theme camps were co-opting community events for their own reward. (I remember cause i was there, rocking the boat) Ignition NW was created so the community felt represented. So the community had a more organized way of doing events. Your event is worth the cost. Every dime. Ive paid more for far less. Pssssh seriously. We were planning on coming again this year and of course nyc changed their date to Oct 4th too....so theres that... Your community and what you have accomplished is the gold standard. A beacon for how others can do it well. (Well except you havent done a figment yet and when you do.. along with how you have completely rocked EVERYTHING ELSE, will have pretty much reached perfection as a community) You all know slap shot right? Mild, medium, spicy? I got an habenero nyc backhand for the lot of ya. Get off the facebook you silly kids and go work on your costumes. Love an original seattle burner voice of decent. ;) P.S. stop useing the priciples like theyre the new commadments... cause it makes you sound like that other group of cray crays called christians.. *shudders* theyre nice guidelines but full of holes, drafted by privilage and way to vague for use in any discussion as a tool to shore up your point of view
