Just received this from David Willens at JFed. Its from the national office. Community Wide Distribution Paul Goldenberg, National Director August 29, 2014 (3:55pm EDT) SCN INFO SHARE: Britain Raises Terror Threat to Severe SITUATION OVERVIEW SCN is sharing the following information for situational awareness only. This is not tied to any imminent or specific threat but is linked to events on the ground in the Middle East and Europe. Britain has raised the terrorism threat level to Severe as an indicator that a terrorist attack on British soil is highly likely. However, British intelligence officials are not aware of any imminent threats at this time. Approximately 500 Britons have left the United Kingdom to fight with jihadist movements in Iraq and Syria, and a New York Times report claims that half of these jihadists have returned home. In a press conference on the new terror alert, Prime Minister David Cameron cited an attack (found below) by an alleged ISIS member on a Jewish museum in Brussels as an indicator that ISIS wants to target innocent people in the world. On May 24, 2014, a French-Algerian national, Mehdi Nemmouche, shot and killed four people at the Brussels Jewish Museum in Belgium. According to French prosecutors, Nemmouche spent a year fighting in Syria with radical extremists aligned with ISIS. Additionally, Nemmouche was reportedly in possession of a homemade ISIS flag at the time of his arrest.
