Just returned from last tour in Japan . Tomorrow since we are leaving Japan we have to each meet with immigration I have a 2:00 appt. today we went above Harodite . On the way to the top of a mountain we saw lots of casinoes . It seems this city which is also on an island as was Amori has lots of casinoes . This helis to keep it prosperous . We went by the local market where there are lots of fish to buy sushi , ice cream , and cheesecake are suppose to be very good . We had a great guide today for this short tour . She told us some stories such as on Christmas eve they have Christmas cake and chicken . The next day the christmas cake is niot good anymore so the old saying was you needed to be married by 24 or you would be like the Christmas cake . She also explained why Japanese people never look you in the eye . They are taught to look around neck area as a sign of respect . April is the beginning of the Japanese school year . They will get a week off in May to celebrate the blooming of the cherry blossoms . This is a big occasion where people go to the parks and BBQ and enjoy the cherry blossoms . Today at strategic tourist stops there were Japanese high school students to help guide tourist as a means of practicing their English . On the way back to the ship she told us a story how when the Americans came over to teach the Japanese in the old days they would not allow them to eat rice except on Fridays . So that was how they tracked their week . There was one catholic church and one Anglican in this city . Most of the important buildings are made of concrete as a fire destroyed a lot of the city and they rebuilt important buildings in concrete . A lot of the homes I saw reminded me of the beach homes I saw in Venice California . Shopping has not been that great but I was able to buy a few things so now I have spent all my Japanese money . Today is Good Friday so we have the passioni of Christ for Catholics on the ship . Grateful for that . I still cannot post pictures as satellite is limited and it takes awhile to download pictures .
