Just sent my letter to the Minister, please do the same at imittocommunitytv.org.au/ Dear Minister, as a producer of community TV content I am disgusted by your recent decision on this matter. I have been producing programs for community TV for over ten years and employ 6 full time staff as well as employing both myself and my wife and numerous casuals. Your decision has put my business and the employment of my staff at risk. You have made our future uncertain and my workers have realistic concerns for their own future. Community TV has provided us with a unique opportunity to support our relevant community and to reach hundreds of thousands of viewers via what I believe is a functional, popular and relevant broadcasting medium. Mainstream TV will not offer me the same opportunities. My area of content is within the 4wd and travel sector. Throughout the GFC and over the past decade, 4wds have been regularly amongst the top selling vehicles within Australia. Vehicle and accessory sales continue to thrive with no sign of slowing and Australia is highly regarded as being the worlds best 4x4 accessory manufacturer. This is an industry that I work closely with and have supported for over ten years through my community TV program 4wd TV. I am sure that this industry is just as disappointed with your decision as I am. Community TV gives myself and many others an exclusive voice. It has allowed me to service and support a sector that is not supported by mainstream stations, it has allowed me to employ a number of people and it has offered me work within an industry I am passionate about. Hence I will utilise every resource I can muster to fight the threat to community TV. I am asking that you recognise the value of community television and make a commitment to extending their licence and ensuring the future of this important component of our media landscape. Kind regards, Simon Christie
