Just shared this with my group and thought to share it here too, hopefully it helps someone this weekend... Easy-To-Use Positioning & Income Boosting Strategy... Have you ever decided to surprise your existing customers with a totally unexpected freebie? No? Trust me, the effect can be a real income booster. Im not talking about sending freebies you planned to send after a set period of time having them as your customers (I know a lot savvy folks already do that and it works too), but thats not what Im referring to here. Im also not talking about sending your customers holiday gifts or thank you notes (again those are powerful and work well). However, Im referring to something you do unexpectedly as a way to build rapport or get attention. I did this last week and snagged a client whom Ill start coaching tomorrow. I simply called her up and offered her a free coaching session on a topic shed expressed interest in earlier but later told me she couldnt afford. On a whim I decided to call her up last week or so and offer it to her no strings attached. Of course she was delighted. She took the free session and that led to an ongoing monthly private coaching program she just paid for. If Id just kept sending her follow up messages to buy (that same session I offered as a surprise gift) she may have bought, but chances are more likely that if she simply couldnt afford it or justify the expense at the time, she would simply ignore and even dread my sales follow up calls and messages. She confessed to me actually that she very likely wouldnt have bought that session this year even though she desperately wanted it and she was thrilled to get the surprise free entry. The kind gesture opened up channels that the usual sales follow ups cant. When you totally surprise people who want things from you (that they cant normally get their hands on), with generous gifts preferably connected directly to (or even exactly) the thing they want but couldnt afford, you instantly create some mega loyal prospects who in most cases will want to acknowledge your kindness by paying you back in some way (possibly immediately) either by referring new business to you or by buying something else. Ive discovered that some people dont like feeling indebted to kind people, it makes them uncomfortable--like theyve taken undue advantage of the person (yes even if the offer was made to them and not something they sought out)! Im the exact same way :) Do something really super and unexpected for me and youve got an ardent ambassador for your cause! Now while its important that you do this altruistically, you of course need to pick the kind of prospects/customers you do this with carefully as there are those who will misuse, overuse or even not appreciate the gesture at all--they exist! The lady I picked to offer this no strings friendly gesture to is a friend who has been kind to me in the past as well so I knew she would understand the gesture. I will also be doing this more often with other prospects who have a sense of appreciation and whether or not they buy or return the favour wont matter, what will matter is that I will have created a position in their minds that few if any of my direct competitors occupy. Your Assignment: This weekend is a good a time as any to call up 5 customers who have shown an interest in something but didnt yet buy. If you can afford to call them up and offer it to them at no charge and with no strings. Report back if you like with your results, Ill be happy to discover how well this works for you!
