Just some thoughts about Halloween. Hallo means Holy. ween I am - TopicsExpress

Just some thoughts about Halloween. Hallo means Holy. ween I am not sure about. Could it mean ween like wean? In that case the word Halloween means weaned from Holy which would tell me its less holy. I am sure I do not want to do something that is less than holy. Ok another thought- Trick or Treat, what does that mean? Without any other explanation I think that someone is telling me that if I do not give them a treat they may give me a trick. Is that a threat? It kinda sounds like a threat. Is it just a choice? Maybe its a choice like would you like to see me do a trick sir and then if I say Yes, a trick! I would like to see you do a trick! So the kid gets off my porch and stands on his head. I laugh and say wow, that is a good trick! Bye now. Then he holds his bag out and in effect says Well, I did the trick, where is my treat? What? I say, I thought it was trick or treat. NOT! now its trick and treat. Somebody does a trick and then I give a treat. Yes, that sounds like trick and treat! If its trick and treat, then say so. Dont tell me its trick or treat unless you mean it. No, if you do a trick and I have to give you a treat, then its Trick AND Treat! Now its not a choice though. Now its an obligation. Am I obligated to request a trick and now give a treat? I think not. But what if I answer the door and I dont give a treat? Will you stand there and say God bless you sir? I am just wondering out loud here? I mean if you are dresses up as a witch and I have heard that witches are ugly mean women that cast spells upon people, do I really want to give you candy because I think it will make you nice? But what if I dont give you candy? What happens then? I think you will, you ugly old witch try to throw a spell on me. In that case then it is truly treat or trick? Is that a threat? ,,,,,,Just sayin!
