Just spent the weekend at The Liberated Learners annual conference at North Star: Self-Directed Learning for Teens. There were over 40 educators/teachers and Self-Directed Teen Learning Center founders from: Bay State Learning Center in Deham, North Star in Hadley, Princeston Learning Cooperative in Princeton NJ, Beacon in New Haven CT, Open Doors in Grand Rapids MI, Deep Root in Canton NY, Compass Center in Ottawa Canada.......All saying the same thing: Tell all the teens you know that it is an option to just leave school, do what you are interested in and love and we will help you! Learning in Natural. School is optional. I am so inspired, so in love with this model, so amazed by these centers and all they are doing for teens, with respect for who they are and what they need. This may be my next phase, how does Central Mass Self Directed Teen Learning Center sound? Look for it in about 5 years :)
