Just spent three amazing days at Rototom Sunsplash - Official page in Spain. Played to a crowd of a few thousand in the dancehall arena, saw a load of brilliant artists and soundsystems and linked up with some great people. Was crazy for me being back here, playing to such a big crowd and seeing how much the Spanish dancehall scene has blown up in the past decade. This is where it all started for me back in 2001 when I lived an hour down the coast in Valencia. The first ever dancehall party I played was at Juanita Club, Valencia and my weekly residency there is where I learned to DJ properly, the apprenticeship that set me up for founding The Heatwave when I moved back to England. Without the time I spent here and everything I learned from other Spanish DJs, musicians, promoters and soundsystems I may never have even become a full time DJ. Big up Julio, Marcello, Dani, Kique, Guillermo, Inma, Carlos and everyone else who helped and inspired me in those times. The scene here was tiny ten years ago, so to see thousands of people at a festival just up the road brukking out to brand new and classic dancehall is sick. Not to mention the weather! You cant beat bashment raving outdoors with the beach a stones throw away.
