Just spent two hours putting $1300.00 worth of heartworm, flea, and intestinal parasite meds down the Sanctuary dogs. Every month they are given either Revolution or Sentinel. Revolution being a topical and Sentinel a pill. The latter must be given with a meal so at Wal Mart last night I bought 20 packages of cheap hot dogs, figured there was enough fat continent in those to do the trick. So this morning the pup babies were delighted with a hot dog treat hiding their meds before they went out. Well not all of them about 30 said NO THANK YOU GROSS so those I had to go back sift thru the hotdogs find the pills and push them down their throats with a little butter pad or encourage the willing ones to eat their hot dog. We are going to alternate Revolution and Panacur 3 days in a row once month and Sentinel the next. In a routine fecal check we found a few eggs and want to make sure since we have used Panacur 3 days in a row every month for a while those rascally parasites are not building up a resistance to the wormer. The expense of this each month is hard to bear, but it has to be done to keep everyone healthy. Since Sentinel sterilizes and does not kill the fleas I am going to follow with a Capstar chaser in a few days. Wal Mart probably though we here having the worlds larges weenie roast. Now to see if I can get dog slobber, hot dog juice, and gosh knows what out of my clothes and of my hands, YUCKY.
