Just think if time would permit and be such a thing. The street - TopicsExpress

Just think if time would permit and be such a thing. The street called second was the main highway though the region of Ironton. No Ironton By-Pass was along the hillside and no interchanges within. You came from Hanging Rock under the railroad overpass ( at Winkler Hollow) and up towards lower Ironton by way of old Rt.52 connecting to 2nd. Street. Coming up towards town and moving over towards 3rd. Street if you wanted to continue towards the upper end of town. There you would ride up towards Coal Grove keeping in line with the N&W train tracks. Heading right up the Grove past Don Keys and up the slight hill to the old green bridge thats still be used. Ironton too was robust then because of the traffic coming through it. Those hills came all the way down to meet Ironton back then. High water at times would block off traffic at both ends of town and Ironton was almost surrounded by it. That is the main reason the Ironton By-Pass Freeway was built.
