Just thinking out loud, and you non-geeks REALLY dont have to respond to this at all. Also, spoilers, if you havent seen The Avengers or kept up with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (bump for spoiler justice) (and bump again) 1. Coulson got killed in the Avengers, by Loki. 2. Specifically, by a staff given to Loki, if indirectly, by Thanos. 3. Fury had SHIELD scientists bring him back, using a combination of high-tech surgical equipment (some of which might be Asgardian in nature) and some medicine derived from the blood of an alien being (starting to look like that might be a Kree, although its a Whedon show so there might be some misdirection there.) 4. Coulson finds all this out, and goes to track down one of the doctors involved. This doctor tells him that they had to rewrite his memories to the whole Tahiti thing, because what Coulson had become. 5. What had Coulson become? Well, I think its got a lot to do with being killed by a weapon created by Thanos... 6. Are they REALLY setting up Avengers 3 this far out in advance? Just thinking out loud.
