Just to add to the announcements that have been going around (with good cause) about leaving your dog in the car during the summer: Leaving your dog chained in the back of a pick-up in full sun, with no access to shade and no water, while you spend 20 minutes in Safeway buying beer, isnt much better. To the two dumb-ass hillbilly mountain bikers at the Felton Safeway this afternoon: Your dog was already panting heavily and shifting around with discomfort when I parked my car across from yours in the parking lot. By the time I came out of the store, about 20 minutes later, she was in real distress, breathing way too rapidly, whining, and trying desperately to climb out of the pickup to find some shade. Fortunately shes a real sweetie, and allowed a complete stranger to approach her truck to bring her water and to drizzle some over her head and neck. If I hadnt found you and your beer in Safeway, my next step was going to be to call the police. Granted that there isnt a lot of shade in Safeways parking lot, one of you bozos could have taken her on a leash to the shady area under the overhang while the other made the beer run. Tell me...do you chain your kids in a hot truck bed while you buy beer too? Grrr. Some people should be barred from ever having a dog...or a child!
