Just to be clear, there is something that will turn me from mild mannered Southern Gentleman into a ruthless monster in a nano-second and that is abuse. It doesnt matter if its animals, children, those that cant fend for themselves (elderly, disabled, etc.) or women. Anyone who I witness engaging in any such activity is subject to a beat down of mammoth proportions. It is something I will not tolerate in my presence or to my knowledge. The bottom line in this whole discussion is that MEN DONT STRIKE OUT IN ANGER AT THOSE WHO DONT POSSESS THE PHYSICAL STRENGTH THEY DO, PERIOD! This isnt something that you can blame on your upbringing, you job or a situation where you think the other party was asking for it. And to the males out there that will say, but you dont understand... I say, I do understand. I deal with a mental illness on a daily basis. My life is a billion times more stressful that your worst nightmare. But I take care of my business in a way that isnt dangerous to others. The whole you dont understand excuse is a battleship load of cowardly crap to begin with. To these males I say, grow up and take responsibility for your actions. You want to be worshiped as heroes and superstars? Conduct yourself worthy of the adulation. That being said, you can probably gather that Ray Rice nor Adrian Peterson are not two males that I hold in high regard. In the spirit of full disclosure, Ive thought Ray Rice was a thug punk even back in his Rutgers University days. And Im not a big fans of the way the Baltimore Ravens, Rices former team, conduct their business considering how they protected Ray Lewis. So Rices actions disappointed me but didnt surprise me in the least. The news about Peterson was cause for me to raise an eyebrow. To my knowledge he was a stand up guy before this. But they both crossed the line and need to face the consequences. I know that there are those who read this that will say that the first course of action is let it all play out in the legal system and then work on rehabilitating these males. I agree with that but feel the need to add that the rehabilitation is only effective if the party involved actually wants to change. A question that is still open for debate concerning Ray Rice in my opinion. I have referred to Rice and Peterson as males throughout this whole update because that may posses the attributes of the gender but REAL MEN DONT ABUSE WOMEN AND CHILDREN! And that is the bottom line.
