Just to put peoples minds at rest regarding the Diving Incident in Wales this year whilst I was on Holiday. I didnt want to say too much for fear of breaching confidentiality, however as it has made the Press with Photos of me (Does my bum look big in this Wetsuit? Was NOT the headline). However, whilst waiting for friends to go for a swim in the sea, (Hence Wetsuit) with the assistance of the RNLI and Coastguard Rescue I took charge and treated a patient brought from a 22mt dive by RNLI landing onto on the slipway with Caissons disease (The Bends) who was also diabetic, adding to further medical complication. I then traveled by ambulance with Paramedics who had now also arrived to a field approx 1.5 hours later where we loaded the patient onto Helimed. The patient was then airlifted by Helimed to Plymouth Dive Centre where a total of 4 hours was spent in the decompression chamber. Thank you to everyone from the RNLI , Coastguard Rescue, Friends, the Ambulance Paramedics & Helimed who gave me assistance. It was great to be part of the team. From St. Marys Paddington Trauma Centre A&E to Little Haven Wales my job remains the same. Paramedic / Nurse or is it Nurse / Paramedic? And the difference is................................?
