Just updated my laptop from Win 8.0 to 8.1. Not sure what all the buzz is about, they still didnt put the start menu back, so there really wasnt any point to it from my perspective. The start button is there, but it just puts the new start tiles on your desktop. Good thing I still have my copy of Start8. If youre using Windows 8 or 8.1 get Start8 from stardock/. It actually fixes the problem and ads some pretty cool stuff on its own. $4.99, but well worth twice that.
