Just wanted to share what God laid on my heart this morning. I hope it touches some of you: During the time when a caterpillar is in its chrysalis, this shelter is a source of comfort and safety. Towards the end of the process, when the caterpillar is almost a butterfly, the chrysalis is no longer serving its original purpose but becomes a hindrance. It is no longer a comfort, but a source of frustration. There must be a breakthrough in order for the butterfly to realize its full potential. It does not need to learn how to fly, but is born knowing. There is no need to prepare for that which is already there. If only the butterfly has the strength to break free and allow oxygen to breathe life into its wings, it would be able to fly. If it stays in its chrysalis too long, it will die. How many of you feel like you are stuck in the process of transformation? You know what you are, you know what you are capable of, but you just cant seem to break free. You feel trapped by the very things that you used to cling to. Your old way of life is no longer of any benefit and you are ready to move on. Maybe it is your habits, your mindset, your health, your friends, your finances, or your career. Maybe you feel exhausted, as if you run a race every day only to wind up in the same place that you started from. Change can be a painful process. Growth can be a painful process. Every day is a new opportunity to let go, and take a step in the right direction. It might be one step, but start moving. Do what you can, and keep going! Proverbs 4:25 says, Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. You cant look to the left, you cant look to the right. You cant focus on the things that make you feel trapped. You cant focus on what you dont have. You cant focus on where you think you are. You have to focus on where youre going. The reason you shouldnt look to the left or to the right is because the devil is ready at every angle to distract you from getting to where you need to be. The devil knows that as long as you are looking around, you are not going anywhere! Do you know what happens when you steer a car only to the left or to the right? You drive in circles! This is what God is saying, Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. If your focus is on Christ, who is perfect, you will not waiver in anything that you need to do. Why? Because you are not relying on yourself anymore, but the spirit of God within you. Freedom comes by what you focus on. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. How many things in your life are a burden? How many things hold you back? How many things have you become slave to? Is it because of the things, or is it because of your perspective? Is it because you know you need to change, but you havent done it yet? The time is here, to come out of bondage. Do you want to be free? Do you really want ...to be free? How much time have you spent seeking God in your situation? How much time have you spent cultivating your spirit so that it can grow, becoming strong enough to break any holds that the devil has in your life? Do you know that, Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. The Lord is great and mighty, His power is strong enough to set you free. He sees everything that youve been going through. Maybe you feel like God has forgotten about you. Maybe you think you have somehow become invisible. In the Old Testament Sarah called God the Hebrew name El Roi, You are the God who sees. How well do you know God? Do you know Him well enough to know that no matter how you feel about yourself, He sees you? Thousands of years ago sparrows were the cheapest birds. They were practically considered worthless. But Jesus said, Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Not only does God see you, but God sees the value in you. You arent alone in what you are going through. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Sometimes all you can do is forget about everything that is going on, and just move forward. Move forward towards Christ, in faith, knowing that He is there for you through all the seasons of life. For we walk by faith, not by sight.
