Just wanted to update on the current happenings of kuechmann park. In collaboration with members of the parks department, a group of us presented a plan to the parks and recreation advisory board on August 12. The plan included a detailed timeline of improvements, mostly all with the volunteers that have stepped forward. The goal is to restore kuechmann park back to the oak woodlands it once was, removing the invasive trees that block trails, and adding nature playscapes to make this park one that residents of all ages can enjoy. The plan also called for removal of the old buildings and some parking improvements over time. Next steps: we are hoping the village will accept this plan and not pursue a vote to deem the property surplus. We know there will a need for a financial investment in order to pay for some of the expenses(building and parking). But in the grand scheme these costs are minor considering what would be lost if they decide to sell. Hoping to have a clearer picture by the September 9 parks and recreation board meeting.
