Just was downtown and a group of down-and-out folks Id mostly never met recognized me coming up the street and started shouting my name as they ran up to talk with me. Most had stories of harsh treatment here - including one who just ended a 2-year prison sentence for selling a small amount of pot and now cant get anyone to even consider hiring them with the scarlet F of a Felony on their record. People who already have the hardest lives have what hopes they had derailed by what we are trying to change. A reminder of why I came to law school and got into this crazy race.
