Just watched the documentary, Earthlings... Cant really describe my emotions yet after just having finished it... still in a reactive state of shock, anger, frustration and a deep sense of retaliation against the unfathomable cruelty, pain, suffering and injustice humankind has inflicted on countless animals and non-human creatures at our own hands for consumption, self-interest, entertainment, clothing, companionship and more... More than ever in the world, two things are greatly needed: awareness and compassion. The kind and scale of systemic cruelty and sickness portrayed in the film, which is a reality of our time (a reality of every day), could only be born from a species who lack both the awareness of what is going on, how our actions and consumption patterns affect the rest of the world and other animals, and also, the compassion and empathy that is needed in order to move and motivate people to change their attitudes, beliefs, preferences, decisions and behavior about what is acceptable and hence should be tolerated or not. If ignorance is bliss, and choosing ignorance is the norm these days in order to protect our preferences and satisfy our self indulgent taste-palettes and egos, then facing these realities are what courage, compassion and personal power are made of. Therefore, if youre interested in increasing your awareness, cultivating greater compassion and empathy, developing your courage and being a part of the change in the world thats desperately needed, then I challenge you to watch this documentary as well.
