Just went to see a specialist. They said absolutely NO stretching. Stretching only makes it worse by ripping the newly formed scar tissue. Your plantar is unable to heal itself due to lack of blood flow in this area of your foot. The only way is for scar tissue to form and not be ripped by stretching or walking barefoot. Wear compression socks, NEVER go without shoe inserts with arch support (not even from your bed to the toilet), wear any kind of shoes that dont bend on the sole in the middle part of your shoe (no Uggs), roll gently with a frozen water bottle at night... Start over following this process and you should be healed in 2-3 months. Crossing my fingers it works.
