Justice is alive! The Industrial Court (Kisumu), yesterday on - TopicsExpress

Justice is alive! The Industrial Court (Kisumu), yesterday on Wednesday 3rd December 2014 ordered the Clerk of Vihiga County Assembly to pay the new employees - all their salaries and benefits arrears accrued since 1st April 2014 with immediate effect. Meanwhile today, Thursday 4th December 2014 the Vihiga County Assembly Service Board suffered another blow when the High Court (Kakamega) threw out an application on their behalf by their lawyer Aggrey Musiega to stop a petition by Vihiga residents on the failures of these board from being heard. The case will now proceed for hearing upon service of the notices to members of the board. Note that the decisions of these two courts are independent of each other because both are courts of superior record at same level and thus cannot contradict one another. The 2010 constitution gave the Industrial Court exclusive jurisdiction over labour and employment matters. This a twin victory for long suffering employees of Vihiga County Assembly. Praise be to the most high!
