Justin s tracheotomy went very smoothly! He now has a Trach hooked up to the vent and they will begin to wean his sedation in a few hours. Its so nice to see his face now without the tube in his mouth! The Trach is only temporary until they are sure without a doubt that he doesnt need the ventilator helping him. Possibly 1-2 weeks, And then they take it out. Dr said this morning that his chest X-ray is looking better. They believe the fever and increased white blood cells were from the fluid around his lung yesterday because the fluid had a lot of inflammatory qualities to it. His chest tubes drained over 2 liters of fluid last night from around his lungs. His lungs will be able to expand a lot better now. Today is going to be all about continued rest for him!!
