K so last time when i mentioned my thought that the modern day - TopicsExpress

K so last time when i mentioned my thought that the modern day king of the world is satan i could have given you the scriptures that gave me that idea - the main one is during the temptation of Christ - Mt 3:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. - satan said that he had the authority to hand over all the kingdoms of the world & when Jesus responded He did not contradict that claim by saying something along the lines that satan could not fulfill his promise. Also there is Eph 2:2 that refers to satan as the prince & power of the air - so as soon as he figures out a way that we will accept the logic of it, he will charge us for breathing i bet you any much. Well there is this vague thought floating around that when John was given the scroll from the angel in Rev 10 that it was the title deed to the earth that was reclaimed from satan; but i doubt that idea has any validity to it, as John eats the scroll & the contents help him prophecy the rest of the book; so that particular scroll probably represents the word of God, like this other passage in Ezek 3:1-4. Dt 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; 10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face. 11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them. Know: 3045 דָּעָה, יָדַע [yada` /yaw·dah/] v. A primitive root; TWOT 848; GK 1977 and 3359; 947 occurrences; AV translates as “know” 645 times, “known” 105 times, “knowledge” 19 times, “perceive” 18 times, “shew” 17 times, “tell” eight times, “wist” seven times, “understand” seven times, “certainly” seven times, “acknowledge” six times, “acquaintance” six times, “consider” six times, “declare” six times, “teach” five times, and translated miscellaneously 85 times. 1 to know. 1a (Qal). 1a1 to know. 1a1a to know, learn to know. 1a1b to perceive. 1a1c to perceive and see, find out and discern. 1a1d to discriminate, distinguish. 1a1e to know by experience. 1a1f to recognise, admit, acknowledge, confess. 1a1g to consider. 1a2 to know, be acquainted with. 1a3 to know (a person carnally). 1a4 to know how, be skilful in. 1a5 to have knowledge, be wise. 1b (Niphal). 1b1 to be made known, be or become known, be revealed. 1b2 to make oneself known. 1b3 to be perceived. 1b4 to be instructed. 1c (Piel) to - so we seen this word before & so it is expressing one of the most important gospel truths that i have been called to preach from Jn 17:3 for the last many years - get to know God on a deep, intimate level - so YHVH our elohiym, He is the mighty one, the faithful mighty one who keeps His deals of mercy with them that love Him all the way down the line if you have a thousand generations of grandchildren & that is pretty much what the whole bible story is about; God had a kid named Adam who messed up but God loved him & gave him a message about hope & the fact that Jesus would come (Gen 3:15), then later on when Noah was the only righteous man on the earth God saved him & passed that message of hope on through him (Gen 9:9), then later on Abraham became the friend of God & the message of hope was passed through him (Gen 22:8) & thats why Jesus was born a Jew is because of the way God keeps His promises like this verse is saying. God repays them that pixx Him off to their face; He will exterminate them & not slack off in the process of doing it - repaying to their face might have the idea that when their calamity befalls them they will know it was YHVH who gave it to them - at least that will be how it is at the final great white throne judgement of Rev 20:11-15. So verses like Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. - are based off of passages like the one we are reading. And the section ends off with an exhortation to treasure up & obey the words of God that Moses is telling them to do. So the bit i forgot to mention was back in Dt 6:15 because i was focused on the word jealous & it being a reference to the 1st commandment, i glazed over the fact that another reference to the gospel truth that God has to take up residence in our heart was right there next to it in the word Among: 7130 קֶרֶב [qereb /keh·reb/] n m. From 7126; TWOT 2066a; GK 7931; 227 occurrences; AV translates as “among” 76 times, “midst” 73 times, “within” 24 times, “inwards” 22 times, “in” six times, and translated miscellaneously 26 times. 1 midst, among, inner part, middle. 1a inward part. 1a1 physical sense. 1a2 as seat of thought and emotion. 1a3 as faculty of thought and emotion. 1b in the midst, among, from among (of a number of persons). 1c entrails (of sacrificial animals). - as it is saying that our God wants to be inside our hearts meaning the core of our being like His word is supposed to be according to Dt 6:6. & so while talking about how in the OT they missed that point & tried to obey the law without relying on God living inside of them to give them the strength to do it, i could have brought up a stack of passages like this one in Php 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: - which is giving us that thought that just obeying the law without having faith in God to be living inside of you & giving you the strength to do it will get you nowhere. 2 Cor 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. Dt 7:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers: 13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee. 14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. 15 And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee. K so this bit looks pretty short so i included it in todays study. Here we see Moses telling the people that if they pay attention agree to & treasure up & obey these rules God will do His part & keep His promises to your fathers & love you & bless you & multiply you & make you fertile & with healthy babies & your crops, supplies & animals will all be in good shape in the promised land - in fact there will not be another group more blessed than you & none of you or your animals will be unable to have children; & all sicknesses & diseases that you heard about will not affect you, but they will attack your enemies instead. Ok so how are we supposed to swallow this passage? Does this mean that everyone who is infertile or sick is not in a real relationship with God? Or if they are, they are just not obeying everything He wants them to do? Well i have to admit it is a possibility; but it is highly doubtful it is that simple - Abraham had fertility problems for the majority of his life & he was a friend of God (most likely the problem was with Sarah, but still) & Paul had a health issue that he called a thorn in the flesh that did not go away no matter how many times he asked God about it because it was there for a reason to prevent him from getting a big head because of all the truth God gave him. Well if some kind of sickness has taken a hold of you there is no harm in praying this scripture & obeying the will of God that has been revealed to you & seeing if that makes a difference. If you really know who God is & you are sick there is a reason, so you can simply ask God what it is & pray you can deal with the answer; as many times nobody wants to hear what God is saying when they ask Him hard questions like that. So next time we will continue this discourse & until then let us pray that we know who the one true God of the universe is & that we appreciate Him for making a deal of mercy with us & extending it to our children, that we never act like we hate God so that He never repays us for that & that we rely on the strength of the indwelling Holy Spirit to be able to obey His will & pray we receive the Holy Spirit into our hearts if it is not already there. Praying that we obey His will to be able to enjoy His blessings & if we are lacking a blessing that we ask God why & accept His response, be it obey in this area to restore it or this blessing is not for you.
