After he had gone the other detective saw Mr McCarron go to the shed and place the child in a sack with a quantity of marsh mallows, presumedly to feed the pigs with. The detective then bailed McCarron up, and covering him with a revolver and took him to the hotel, where he was arrested. McCarron, who is a farmer and a blacksmith is held in great awe by his family, seven in number. He and his daughter were charged with the murder of the child.
