KADAGA INSTITUTES COMMITTEE TO FIND HEALTH FUNDING GAPS The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga has instituted a committee of six members to critically examine the funding gaps in the health sector ahead of the next budget process. This was after meeting the parliamentary committees on Budget, Health and the Uganda women Parliamentarians Association, where lawmakers expressed concerns over the continued challenges hindering the good health service provision to the population. Comparing the country’s health system with other countries in and beyond the region, Kadaga and other lawmakers observed that issues of maternal health and infant mortality are still a big burden to the country because of poor planning and budgeting. Now Kadaga named a team of six mps led by Kikinzi East MP Dr. *Chris Baryomunsi to critically study the budgetary gaps and needs to ensure strategic interventions by parliament towards better health care especially for mothers and children. The speaker explains that the team is expected to engage the ministries of health, Finance and Donors will come up with an audit report that will be shared with the president in order to influence budget for the sector.
