KALABARI STAKEHOLDERS URGE PRESIDENT JONATHAN TO IGNORE RANTINGS OF GOVENOR AMAECHI …DECLARE SUPPORT FOR HIM, WIKE … AS PDP CHAIRMAN, OBUAH APPLAUDS DECISION The Kalabari Kingdom was agog on Saturday 4th October, 2014 when the Hon. Minister of Sports Dr. Tammy Danagogo and his political associates gathered the crème de la crème of the Kingdom to thank them and award undergraduate scholarships to 153 indigent University Students. The Hon. Minister used the opportunity to catalogue the projects, love and plans of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the Kingdom and showered encomiums on him for his uncommon transformation Agenda for Nigeria in general and Rivers State and the Kalabari Kingdom in particular. He urged the people to continue to support their fellow Ijaw man- President GoodLuck Ebele Jonathan who is their son, brother and in-law; their sister and wife of the President Dame Dr. Patience Jonathan, the Minister of State for Education, Hon. Barrister Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike CON and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. In their response the Kalabari Stakeholders from all the 33 communities/towns who spoke through Chief Hon. David Briggs (1st Executive Chairman of Akuku-Toru LGA and two time commissioner in Rivers State); Chief Barr. E.S. Lawson (An industry Giant and 1st sole administrator of Akuku Toru Local Government Area), Chief Precious Elekima (Business Tycoon); Hon. Opakrite Jackcrece (former Executive Chairman of Asri-Toru LGA-1999); Hon. Pleasant Braide (former Executive Chairman of Degema LGA-1999). Hon. Mrs. Daizy West (former member Rivers State House of Assembly-1991) and so many others thanked President Jonathan for his love for the Kalabaris and appointment of one of their illustrious sons Dr. Tammy Danagogo, as minister. They promised to support President Jonathan and the PDP through thick & thin in the LGAs, State and National Levels. They urged President Jonathan to ignore the rantings of the Governor who they described as a loose cannon and a drowning prodigal son. They described it as pretentious rantings when the Governor said that Mr President dislikes the Kalabaris saying it is a case of the charcoal calling the kettle black. They said that they are aware of the Governor’s deep-seated hatred for the Kalabaris borne out of inferiority complex and his plans to knock their head against that of their fellow Ijaw man-President Jonathan. They said they are aware that after their meeting with President Jonathan he directed the boundary commission to proceed immediately to demarcate the boundary but upon their arrival the Governor disallowed them insisting that Rivers State must be paid her claims from 2004 till date before they will go to the field; knowing that it is impossible to make any payment without 1st demarcating the boundary. The Governor should know that Kalabari people are aware that he did that to perpetuate the boundary dispute, so as to further alienate the Kalabaris from their Kinsman the President and to score cheap and shameless political points. They queried why the only road leading into the Kalabari Kingdom from the East-West Road has been left in complete disrepair since his election if he (Amaechi) loves the Kalabaris, while he dualised the Federal Road from the Airport to his native Ikwere land and his tiny Village-Ubima; why he abandoned the trans-kalabari road awarded and commenced by Dr. Peter Odili; and why the hitherto beautiful Abonnema Ring Road and internal road has been completely impassible for years, since he assumed office. They urged the Governor to remove the log in his eyes before complaining about the speck in Mr. President’s eyes and come to reality with the fact that he cannot hood-wink the Kalabaris because they have always been wiser than him and his types. Meanwhile, the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Bro Felix Obuah, has applauded the people of Kalabari for their commitment, support, solidarity and declaration for President GoodLuck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The PDP Chairman, Bro Obuah urges them to remain loyal and steadfast in their rejection of the All Progressives Congress, APC, assuring them that the PDP and President Jonathan would triumph.
