Ok so we have some good and bad news about baby Makayla. Good news is that she has been doing so much better ever since they put the new chest tube in. She is so very strong and i am so proud of her. They started to wean her off the respirator in the last two days and so far she is handleing the few small changes they have made very well. And even better news is that they did an echo (ultrasound) on her heart and it is as close to normal as we r going to get till her next surgery. They say its great and functioning perectly and everything is working just as it should, so surgery number 2 here we come lol. But now fo the bad news.... she is losing 250+ ccs of fluid out of her chest tube and with that some major nutrients and even some of her anitbodies, because of where they strained her thorasic duct during surgery which happens sometimes. They are going to give her through the weeked to see if the amount of drainage decreses b4 we decide what the next step is to be. But they have talked to us and told us that most likly the only way to fix this is for another surgical prcedure but this is alot less invasive and is a much simplier procedure. Bad news number 2...at the moment she is being tested and studied by the immunologist for possible immune defency because they believe that at the moment she has no antibodies but they also believe that they are just draining out of her chest tube but we wont kno for sure untill all the test come back next week. But over all she is doing amazingly. We are winning the war but are struggling to win some key battles. But she is strong and is still fighting as hard as she can and i couldnt be more proud of her.
