KAMAKWIE: THE MOST NEGLECTED TOWN IN SIERRA LEONE. As son of the soil, I would like to state here that Kamakwie deserves attention. The people of Kamakwie need schools, dispensaries and Chiefdom Offices. All the massive developments that are currently implemented in the 14 districts throughout the country, Kamakwie has not been considered. So far no meaningful project has been executed in the town. Typical examples could be seen in the non provision of solar street lights, road rehabilitation and neglect in the general maintenance of the drainage system and non- supply of pipe borne water by SALWACO. In terms of infrastructure, the current APC government of Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma is on record of nation-wide road construction in the country’s history. The Makeni-Kamakwiehighway is still at its preliminary stage. Added to this, hundreds of kilometers of road rehabilitation have been completed in Port Loko, Kenema, Bo, Moyamba, Kailahun, Spur and Wilkinson roads in the Western Area while streets in Kamakwie are deplorable. The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has never visited Kamakwie rather had visited smaller places like Pepel, Masongbon,Batkanu, Manonko and Rokupr and other remote areas to appeal to the people to stand firm against corruption. The people of Kamakwie have not benefitted anything substantial from the Ernest Bai Koroma Agenda for change and the Agenda for Prosperity.
