*KATNISS POV* I feel my mouth flop open in surprise when I see our cabin situated perfectly between the trees. At the rate we were going at, I was so sure we would never find it. Now we’re here, I realise we’ve made the right choice. The two days on the train were lovely of course. I spent most of the time eating the delicacies provided happily from the train’s chefs and lounging around and having naps. I’d wake up most times to find Peeta sitting on the floor and sketching me and that led to some dangerous runs around the train carriages, me trying to rip them and he trying to protect them. Unfortunately, one run around led in me catching my toe on a door jam. As I look down at it now, the pain pulsates again and I roll my eyes. Trust me to sprain my toe on my honeymoon. Thank God for the Capitol smarts of sticking doctors on the train. Peeta carried me kicking and mumbling threats at my toe into their office and I was soon all bandaged up. “I think this is it,” Peeta says now as he turns our rented car and slowly drives it up closer to the cabin. “Whoa.” Toe forgotten, I climb out of the car and stare dumbfounded at the cabin. The pictures on the pamphlet were beautiful, but it in no way captures the true beauty of the cabin. It’s made out of a rich brown wood that seems to blend in with the trees tightly planted beside it. Thanks to the walls of glass, I can see right into the kitchen and lounge room as well as the master bedroom that sits on the second floor, only it’s pane of glass is smaller like you’d hope. I don’t want people watching me and Peeta making out and I don’t care how far in we are in the forest. It’d be my luck that someone wanders passed. The porch is made of the same wood and seems to stretch right around the house. I can spot the fence that must protect people from drowning in the pool on one side as far as I can see and on the other is the barbeque area. It’s beautiful. “Do you need a hand?” Peeta catches my arm just as I start limping towards the building. “My toe and I are doing just fine, but I swear, if it doesn’t keep itching, I’m going to cut it off.” “Okay then,” he laughs. “I’ll go get the bags. Here are the keys for you to unlock the doors. The red one is for the door, the blue for the pool and green for the garden shed.” “Okay,” I nod and he lets me go. I make my way to the porch and climb slowly up the steps, partly because I’m loving the feel of the wood on the banister and partly because of my stupid toe. Before I go to the front door, I wander around the right side of the house where the pool sits and nearly hold a pool party right than and there. You can’t see it from the front, but the pool is built like a lagoon. When the pamphlet said plants, I thought they met potted around it, not IN it. The water is a perfect ice blue so I can see everything at the bottom. It’s quite deeper, very deep in fact, but it’s no problem for me. The bottom of the pool is covered in water plants, some I recognize as water grass and that stuff that’s like sea weed but for fresh water. There’s some fish that swim lazily between the plants and I smile when I realise how cool it would be to have them nibble on my toe. There’s a spa at the other end, which the pool opens into. It’s painted a darker colour, so I can’t see as much, but there are plants in it too and to top it of, real life trees sit in a perfect half circle around it. I just want to jump in now. “This is awesome,” Peeta gasps behind me and I jump and turn. “Can we get in now? Please please please?” “Well aren’t you eager,” he laughs. “Let’s go see inside first before we doing anything else, okay? We might still have the wrong cabin.” If it is, I don’t care. I refuse to leave this place. Peeta unlocks the front door and karts the bags inside, making me stay outside so he can carry me bridal style when he returns through the open door. I try and point out that we’ve already done such a thing, but he doesn’t listen. Thanks to the massive panes of glass, the entrance is brightly lit up and I feel my excitement brew again when I take it all in. A winding staircase sits in the middle of the house, leading upwards to the bed and bathroom. To the right sits the kitchen in all it’s glory plus another room set behind it while to my left we have the lounge room with, like the other side, another room behind it. Peeta and I decide to check these out first. We start in the kitchen, marvelling at how beautiful and yet simple the whole thing is. The bench top is a lighter wood shade and it matches well with the white cupboards and crystal table that sits in the dining area. The fridge, which is one of the first things I inspect, is massive in size and I open it up to find it’s completely stocked with things from vegetables to little desert cups that hold things from tapioca to chocolate fudge. Peeta checks out the stove top as I do and like clockwork, we soon have the whole room inspected. “It’s massive,” he whistles when we open the walk in pantry. He’s right of course. It’s bigger than my closet at home and I thought that was massive. It too is full of food. We check the room behind it which turns out to be a laundry with three different washers and dryers and an exercise room complete with one of those big balls you sit on and try not to full off. I know what it is thanks to Effie who tried to get me skinnier than I already am for the big day. I laugh at it now. “What’s funny?” Peeta asks. “I am so not going to be exercising. Why would I exercise when I can sit in that pool all day?” He wraps his arm around my shoulders and kisses my temple. “I love you.” The room behind the lounge room turns out to be a movie room, one of those ones where you can dim the lights and take a seat on the massive beanbags, the velveteen chairs pushed against the wall or the bed that you can tilt and adjust to perfection with a remote. Great. Another place I’ll let myself waste away in while I soak all this in. The lounge room holds a fire place which Peeta and I am utterly impressed with. At home, we have to stock ours with wood and coal to keep it going, but here the fire is produced by some sort of gas. We won’t have to worry about collecting wood that means. We trod up the stairs, gasping when we take in the top floor. It’s completely open with no walls anyway. At one end of the massive room, you have the bed covered in pillows and blankets, surrounded by arm chairs and cupboards whilst at the other end; you have the bathroom layout, just minus the walls. I practically sprint over to it to inspect the bathtub, giggling when I realize how big it is. “I’m going to die in here,” I point at it for Peeta. “It’s massive!” “You’ll have no problem fitting in that,” Peeta grins and peers into it. “Nor will I for that matter.” The closet is set into the wall and runs pretty much the whole length of the back wall. It took Peeta and I a good few minutes to locate it since it’s made out of the same wood as the rest of the building and you have to press one loose panel to even get an idea where the doors start and end. After Peeta brings up the bags, he refuses my help, he grins at me while I try not to jump around. Finally, he announces, “Get your swimmers on, then.” I obey immediately. ~ Clove-anna
