KAYIHURA TRANSFERS SENIOR KAMPALA POLICE OFFICERS New office of the director of Peace Support Operations established The Inspector General of Police, Gen. Kale Kayihura has reshuffled the police leadership in the city, transferring Kampala Metropolitan Commander Andrew Felix Kaweesi to the Headquarters. Kaweesi replaced Grace Turyagumanawe as the director for operations while Haruna Isabirye from the Police headquarters replaced Kaweesi as Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander and will be deputised by Steven Tanui formerly the Regional Police Commander of Kampala North. A new office of the director of Peace and Support Operations has been established, with Turyagumanawe as its first occupant to be deputized by Moses Elungu, formerly Kaweesi’s deputy, while Farouk Mwirima, is Turyagumanawe’s new second deputy. The Inspector General of Police made other appointments and transfers of gazetted officers in line with the organizational requirements arising out of the creation of the new office of Peace Support Operation. The appointment and transfers were as follows; 1. AIGP Felix Kaweesi is transferred from Kampala Metropolitan Police and appointed Director Operations. 2. SCP Haruna Isabirye is transferred from Police Headquarters and appointed Acting Commander Kampala Metropolitan Police. 3. ACP Tanui Stephen is transferred from KMP North and appointed Acting Deputy Commander Kampala Metropolitan Police. 4. SP Nganizi Wesley is transferred from Jinja Road and appointed as Acting Regional Police Commander, KMP North. 5. SP Mugisa Charles is transferred from KMP South and appointed District Police Commander, Jinja Road. Kayihura announced the transfers last evening saying they are normal and take immediate effect.
