KEEPING IT REAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As a result of questionable conduct on June 19th 2014, precipitated by a local Journalist, it makes sense to examine where we are today from a Journalism perspective, compared to where weve came from. Firstly let me say personally i do care who is made the Governor General, and im of the view that Lady Pindling should be disqualified, because she was a TAX-DODGER for 14 years, up until it was revealed by various media outlets, then she ran like hell and PAID-UP. I sense her behaviour came from her sense of entitlement. Her cost for medical care i would exempt her from, which did happen, but pay your Real Property Tax, because we meet our obligation to pay her, her husbands pension. Not withstanding how the countrys reputation was destroyed during the 1980s based on corruption, between what was alledged to exist with the Government of the Bahamas and Columbian Drug Traffickers. Therefore how then do you put the wife of a former Prime Minister who found himself in that situation, into the highest office in the country? That is my view, it simply should never happen, and is once again another bad decision by the Christie Administration. Such an appointment will take the Bahamas back to the 80s, and all the work that has been done to repair and rebuild the reputation of the Bahamas, would have come to nothing. No Prime Minister, or media operation should be this careless or naive, toward the development of the Bahamas and its people. Cant they get anything right? We ought to be very concerned moving forward as to what we can do to get it right, bury the bad, and move on with what is good for the country. Journalism has grown by leaps and bounds, over the decades. Broad-casting media platforms has evolved from the propaganda tool of governments, into a myriad of entities, of which some are liberal, some are conservative, some are agressive in their ideologies, and some are just simply marketing government agendas without regard for honesty and integrity, principle and decency. I felt that there was a national demonstration of the latter in a media broad-cast last week. Any media platform that intends to build the nation, should avail themselves with the knowledge of the Bahamas that we had, under the auspices of the political elite, and the damage that theyve done, despite their good accomplishments. These media platforms should also value the re-inventing of the countrys reputation, and what it takes to get it back to a decent, trustworthy standard. Such media organizations should aspire to attaining some degree of practicality, in the execution of integrity, honesty, principle, and fairness in their version of their quest to build a country. This will never be acheived as long as their are those in media, draped as public figures, with the ability to influence each and every mindset, that they happen to cross paths with on a media platform, and instead of promoting good standards and helping to build our people, instead insult their intellectual capacity and capability with foolishness and nonsense. There is a certain responsibility in media that comes with its influential component. Such a responsibility is non-subscriptive to hate, insults, derogatory name-calling from media cronies, simply because many people are not buying what a particular media is attempting to sell. The Bahamas has been agressive in its development particularly because of our neighbor to the north, in which our economic wellfare, social state of being, security, and ability to sustain our way of life, is more important, and is of a greater value than Prime Minister Christie, Lady Pindling, Leslie Miller, Ishmael Lightbourne and the list goes on and on. The Bahamian electorate is more concerned about how much it cost them to live in the Bahamas by following the rules of our country. Therefore when we find out that there are those who dont follow the rules, and is directly defended by various media outlets, it raises the question of whether there are enemies among us, who cares not for fairness, equality, principle and integrity, but cares more for their elite associations with those who make their own rules. I advocate for morals to return to nation building. I advocate for our government to get out of bed with law-breakers. I advocate for the media forces to speak truth to power. I admonish the Nassau Guardian to continue to be THE GUARDIAN OF THE PEOPLE. AS A CITIZENRY WE CRIED OUT FOR THIS A VERY LONG TIME AGO. WE WILL NOT ALLOW ANY LOOSE-CANNON SELF-APPOINTED, PERPETRATOR AND GUARDIAN OF THE POLITICAL ELITE TO DESTROY WHAT WEVE ACCOMPLISHED TO DATE.
