KENYA LACKS A PROPER LAND USE POLICY. The great Scottish - TopicsExpress

KENYA LACKS A PROPER LAND USE POLICY. The great Scottish economist Adam Smith and Karl Marx the man with the largest following after Jesus at some point they concur that land is the most Important factor of production. Here in Kenya land has been the source of all problems. Largely because of its importance and lack of goverment attention to this valuable natural resource. Kenya is basically an agricultural economy and it is shameful that subsequent governments since 1963 have never come up with a law to ensure proper land use. Proper land use in the case of Kenya dictates setting aside areas that are potentially agricultural and leaving them exclusively for agriculture. In the same tune dry areas should be set aside for real estate development. With the emergence of a strong middle class in Kenya, there has been a high demand for homes. This demand has led to cropping up of estates unsystematically especially in areas near Nairobi and other cities. In a bus with my classmates discussing about the potential and the future of Kenya, a proper land use policy emerges as one of the catalysts of devolopment. If Kenya is to move forward good practice of agriculture is fundametal and therefore a necessity. The National land Commission which was set by the new constitution must move fast into this issue and put up laws for Land use.
