KHAKI POWER..... One thing I dread and always try to dodge is to be stopped by these khaki boys parading themselves on our highway roads for what God knows reasons. These are the type you will be unlucky to encounter any day in any unfortunate location. It is as if they have some supernatural powers to hide only to reappear to you in not a far distance waving you to stop when your eyes were half closed enjoying the cruise at a mean speed of 140/hr. Well, I was not lucky on Saturday on my way from Abuja to Kaduna. I overtook some cars which put me ahead of the lingering line of other cars. That was to be my albatross that day, for just all of a sudden here they are in the middle of the road waving us, or rather to me as the head of the convoy, to stop. I decelerated and off the road and waited in my car. They were police this time. I smiled inwardly. Several unlucky cars were asked to park and the fortunate ones were let passed. A corporal was sent to see me. I nonchalantly lowered my glass window. And this was how it goes between the two of us: Me: (quickly picking his name from the tag & switching my fake smile) Ah OC! How you dey? Corporal: How you dey Oga? Lemme see your boot I came out of the car & let him had a peep. When he saw nothing incriminating there, he then asked for my papers. I then called his name & said: look, we are serving for the common objective, officer Im just on my way to see my family. Corporal: But Oga, I dont know you. I said: Look OC, its a small world. You dont know where we are meeting again. And the best practice is not to respect only who you know but also who you dont know because he could be anybody. He then stared at me for a moment and then say: Okay Oga, safe journey. I entered my car and slotted Taudu Enugu CD and zoomed off. Hmm....what a nuisance!!!!
