KIANGENGI PRIMARY SCHOOL WINS BIG Kiangengi Primary School in magutu will have all the 5 classrooms that did not have cemented floors get one. This is after Nyeri County Governor Nderitu Gachagua donated materials for the work from his pocket. Mr. Waruru Gikandi, a Nairobi businessman from Magutu committed to foot the labor cost. Mr Gikandi at the same time donated 40 modern desks. This was disclosed on Friday during the official opening of the school’s model toilets done by Mr. Geoffrey Rigathi to a tune of Shs 1.5million. Speaking at the function, the school’s headteacher disclosed the frustrations he has gone through in trying to get funding for the toilets, after the old ones had been condemned by health officials. He said he had written numerous proposals/requests to the CDF Mathira without any response. Mr. Rigathi said he decided to help the school because the school’s performance had steadily been improving. The County Education Minister promised that the County Government will do the floors for the two ECD classrooms. Before the ceremony at Kiangengi, Governor Nderitu had opened a road linking Iriani and Magutu Wards. He later commissioned a works on a road in Gitunduti, before proceeding for a leaders meeting in Magutu PCEA. The leaders had been drawn from all corners of Magutu ward. More that 500 were in attendance and notified the governor about their desires on roads, water, agriculture, security and health. Here, Mr. Nderitu disclosed that Gatei Dispensary will get Sh. 10million to make it a model Health Centre. There are three others in the county getting this funding. He also announced that the Ragati-Gikumbo-Gitunduti-University road will be tarmacked this financial year and money had been set aside by the National Government.
