Given That The Concept For The Band KISS Drew Upon Comic Book Superheroes Almost As Much As Upon Music Itself KISS Were A Natural To Feature Someday In Their Very Own Comic. Sure Enough That Came To Pass In 1977 When Marvel Comics Issued The First Super Special KISS Comic Book. Never One To Pass Up A Good Marketing Opportunity KISS Willingly Went Along With A Massive Promotional Gimmick Invented To Spur Sales Of The First Edition. KISS Co-Founder Gene Simmons (The Demon) Recalled: As The KISS Comic Book Project Moved Along, Someone Came Up With The Crazy Idea Of Putting Real Blood From All Four Members Of KISS In The Red ink. It wasnt me — maybe it was Bill [Aucoin] or Sean [Delaney]. We got into a DC3 One Of Those Big Prop Planes And Flew Up To Buffalo N.Y To Marvels Printing Plant, Where They Pour The Ink And Make Comic Books. A Notary Public Actually Witnessed The Blood Being Drawn From All Four KISS Members. Sure Enough KISS Allowed Their Blood To Be Drawn During A Concert Stop And They Later Flew Back Up To New York To Be Photographed & Adding Their Vials Of Donated Blood Into A Barrel Of Red Ink. A Notary Public Duly Certified The Authenticity Of The Entire Process And The Notarized Document Was Made Available As The KISS Comic Book Contract: This Is To Certify That KISS Members, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss Have Each Donated Blood Which Is Being Collectively Mixed With The Red Ink To Be Used For The First Issue Of The Marvel/KISS Comics. The Blood Was Really Extracted On February 21st, 1977 At The Nassau Coliseum and Has Been Under Armed Guarded Refrigeration Until This Day May 26 1977 When A Major Publicity Show Was Put On From KISS As The Ink was delivered to the Borden Ink plant in Depew, New York. (Note To The KISS Army Revealed In 1980) A Subsequent Rumor Maintained That Due To A Mix-Up At The Printers The Batch Of Red Ink Containing The Blood Of All Four KISS Members Was Actually Used For A Print Run Of Sports Illustrated Magazine And Did Not End Up In The Marvel Comic As Intended It Was To Late For Marvel & KISS To Change The Comic That Was To Be Distributed To The World In Less Then A Month. 1978 - Additional Voice-Over Work Is Recorded For The Up-Coming Made For T.V Movie KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park Due To KISS Members Peter Criss, Ace Frehley Thus Making The Release Of The Movie To Take An Extra Month To AIr On Network T.V. 1988 - Former KISS Spaceace Ace Frehley And His Band Frehleys Comet Is Hosting The Official Listening Party For Second Sighting Which Is Held At The Cat Club In New York City. 1990 - KISS Makes Sure Its Absolutely Hot In The Shade During The Sold-Out KISS Concert At The Red River Fairgrounds In Fargo, North Dakota. 1992 - The United Kingdom Leg Of The KISS Revenge Tour Hits N.E.C.
