KMARTS UNHAPPY THANKSGIVING Kmart is at it again this year, launching its doorbuster sale beginning at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. This alone would be bad enough. But if youre an employee of this big box store, its even worse because you dont even find out if or when youre working the non-stop 42-hour sale until the last minute, according to some employees. This angered one daughter of a Kmart employee so much that she started a petition on coworker.org asking Kmart not to stay open for almost two days straight over the holiday – or to at least give those employees who want to stay home with friends and family the flexibility to do so. Heres hoping that those who dont want to work on Thanksgiving dont have to. Or at the very least, they get fair warning. (Think Progress) Just Asking ... Do you think people should be expected to work on Thanksgiving? Should you know what youre getting into if you work in retail or customer service? Are you planning on shopping on Turkey Day?
