KNIT-A-LONG!! Ok I know you have all been patiently waiting for updates about the summer knit-a-long and now I finally have all the information together that you will need! We needed to get the designers permission to use their patterns for this knit-a-long and we got our final confirmation last night! We have made up kits for the two projects that we will be knitting a long to and we have a fantastic colour/price range to suit everyones needs! Today is the first day of the knit-a-long and we will be finishing up these projects by September 2, 2014- so plenty of time to get it done over the rest of the summer! The two projects that we are doing are both cowls- one is a bit more of a basic pattern for those who dont need too much of a challenge, and the second is for those that would like a bit more of a challenge! Both patterns are available from Ravelry- one is a purchased pattern and one is a free pattern. We do like to support our ravelry designers so please dont hesitate to purchase the pattern online- it is an incredibly secure site! Beginners cowl: Color Block Infinity Scarf (Free pattern)- This is the cowl knit with 5-6 different colours and is knit in a tube and the ends are sewn together- simple, easy and effective! Intermediate cowl: Foolproof Cowl ($6.59 on ravelry)- This pattern is done on an angle with stripes throughout- this can be done with two or more colours and it can be planned out or randomly selected with your sock yarn leftovers! How does the knit-a-long work? Come in to Stix and Stones (or call us if you are out of town!) and let us know you want to join the knit-a-long! We will give you 15% off your kit for the knit-a-long (yarn AND needles) and we will provide you with help and support along the way. There are no weekly classes set, you can just pop by the shop with any questions you might have about the pattern and we will help you to get past those sections. We will be hosting two finishing classes for those that participate in the knit-a-long (included in the cost) where we will cover the finishing techniques for both specific cowls. The first class will be in a few weeks and the second class will be at the end of the summer. We will take your name and phone numbers and let you know when both classes are. Sound easy?
