KNOWN FACT (which I hate, btw): Im seldom on time... and NEVER early....for anything. Aaaannd, it is not unusual for me to get lost or turned-around along the way. That said... Sydnees choir tour came to an end last night in Jacksonville, AR (an hour and a half away). Their last performance was at 6:00, and my plan was for Nic and me to leave town at 4:00 in order to get a good seat. We got an early start and I even had time to drive through Hastings for my favorite Earl Grey latte for the road. I debated about swinging by the house before hitting the interstate, but decided against it. It was a little after 4:00 when I put the church name into my phone GPS and started on our trek. Nic and I chatted all the way to Little Rock, stopped at a convenience store for him to change clothes, and I made it to our destination without any problems. 5:30pm…30 minutes EARLY! YAY ME!! Circling the church parking lot, I was a bit confused. I realize I am never early, but I seriously expected there to be more than one car there. I checked the sign… JACKSONVILLE FIRST ASSEMBLY. Yep, my GPS did me right. So I waited a few more minutes. No one. So I called my friend Samantha. “Where are you?”...“We’re going through Vilonia, why?”... “Well, we’re here, but there’s only one other car here.”... “You’re already in Jacksonville?”... “Yes”... “At MacArthur Assembly?” “OH MY GOSH, NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!” So I quickly hung up on my laughing friend, entered the CORRECT church into my GPS, and away we went! We managed to squeal into the parking lot at 5:50 (still very early for me), just as Samantha, shaking her head and smirking, was getting out of her car. On the way to MacArthur, I mentioned to Nic that it’s a good thing we didn’t swing by the house before leaving town, after all. I’m pretty sure that was God nudging me, saying, ‘Oh Tracy, Tracy, Tracy, you’re gonna end up at the wrong church… you’d better go ahead and get on the road!’ :) Meanwhile…. The performance was excellent, but the goodbyes were difficult. Several students decided to meet at On the Border for one last farewell hangout. We were in... GPS was entered, and off we went. I thought it odd to pick a restaurant 25 minutes away, but whatever. 15 minutes into the drive, my GPS went stupid, and I found myself in Ghetto, USA, unsure how to get out. Once again, I called Samantha, exasperated. Sam laughed…. “You’re LOST?” and got an OTB manager to talk me out of the ghetto and back on track. I entered the CORRECT On the Border restaurant into my GPS, turned around, and went BACK toward Jacksonville where, once again, I had to face my smirking friend. :) There is a lesson… or a sermon… here somewhere. But I’m too tired to think about it. Have a great week, my friends!!! And if we ever go anywhere together, YOU’RE DRIVING!!!!!!
