KStar Productions Published: Sunday, November 2, 2014 The band led by Keston Benthum’s KStar Productions gave the media a sneak peak of its 2015 portrayal titled Zodiac at Soho Restaurant on Gallus Street, Woodbrook, on October 22. The Virgin (Virgo), The Scorpion (Scorpio), The Lion (Leo), and Balance (Libra) were the costumes on show from the 12-piece collection. His decision to establish a band of his own was not entirely unexpected, however. Since age eight, he had been winning titles for mas presentations at his primary school. So why now? “Our society is immersed in darkness and a veil of despair hangs over us,” he said. “My art shines a light on a path that leads us from these shadows as we emerge to spread the love and joy that was meant to be.” His eye for beauty was bolstered when his cousin and former T&T Guardian chief photography editor, Andrea De Silva introduced him to the craft. He considered that moment to be the genesis of his perspective. He also has a background in acting through his involvement with Necessary Arts. In the world of fashion, Benthum worked closely with Claudia Pegus for her Fashion Week 2009 showing themed Trapped. Four years before, he worked part-time in Barbados as assistant to the curator at the Art Gallery Lancaster Great House. He travelled the Caribbean and Europe viewing and selecting works to be displayed at Lancaster House. Back home, he worked with mas designer Brian Chin from the now defunct Barbarosa. He later had a stint with Trini Revellers, and Brian Mac Farlane and Associates. It seems Benthum’s work with these top creators gave him the boost he needed to chart his own path in the world of the Carnival arts in T&T. Keston Benthum’s supporters came out to share in his magic moment. PHOTO: SEAN NERO Source:: Trinidad Guardian The post KStar Productions appeared first on Trinidad & Tobago Online. #trinidad
