KUMAR WAII INAUGURATES RWD OFFICE AT LUMLA; ADDRESSES PUBLIC MEETING -Tawang vigilance Tawang, Nov 27: RWD minister Kumar Waii accompanied by APEDA chairman, Dikto Yaker were accorded a rock star welcome at Lumla heliport and general ground yesterday. Kumar Waii, who arrived through chopper yesterday, inaugurated the Sub-Divisional RWD office in Lumla in presence of Minister Tourism, Urban Development and Art & Culture, Pema Khandu,Parl. Secy RWD Jambey Tashi, Parl. Secy. Hydro power Phurpa Tsering, MLA Tawang Tsering Tashi,Chairman DoKAA Jambey Wangdi, DC Tawang, ADC Lumla, ZPC Tawang and other dignitaries. He later attended a public meeting at Lumla general ground. . Addressing the first major public meeting in the region after the elections, Parliamentary Secretary for RWD and local MLA Jambey Tashi in his welcome speech appealed for unity after the circle’s peacefully fought election and sought cooperation from everyone in the development of the region while urging the people to forget party differences and join hands for all round development. “We the three legislators of the district are toiling hard for the Lumla-Tashigang road which if regulated, will be a boon for the district”, He informed. Jambey also presented mementos to the dignitaries and the HODS on the dais. Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi advocated for the need of quality education, terming it as the sure cure for the unemployment issue. “In this period of cut-throat competition, only the fittest and the most eligible can survive”, He said, while urging the teachers and parents to shoulder their responsibility to provide the best education and guidance to the youth. He further appealed for cooperation from all sector for preparations for the forthcoming visit of the noble laureate, HH the 14th Dalai Lama to Tawang next year. Tawang today is in need of cooperation, brotherhood, unity and partnership more than ever and it is time that we work as a united team”, he stated. Condemning the Bomdilla incident of violence in strongest of terms, Parliamentary secretary for Hydro Power Phurpa Tsering described it as a result of unhealthy politics and an act of cowardice by few anti-social elements. Laying stress on the need to harness Hydro power and terming it as the lifeline of every nation, he said, “Some ill intentioned and anti-social elements and NGO’s are objecting to the hydro-power projects in the area. They are creating confusion and spreading false rumours among the public as they envy the progress and development of the district and the state”. Thereon, Minister Tourism, Urban Development and Art & Culture, Pema Khandu opened his statement explaining the vitality of preserving the age old Art, culture and traditions of the Monpas. “Lumla is off on a good journey, and I whole heartedly congratulate the leaders and the public”, he said, expressing his happiness over the rapid development of Lumla circle under the leadership of local MLA, Jambey Tashi. Touching the pending issue of the demand for Mon Autonomous region, the minister informed that delegates from the Buddhist belt are constantly in touch with Union MoS for Home , Khiren Rijiju regarding the demand. “We are all geared up for the meeting with Khiren during his visit to the district next month and are optimistic that our demand for an autonomous district will be catered”, He said. He further informed that a delegate from the Buddhist belt will visit His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama to commemorate 55 years of his sermon in Tawang, the first in the nation. Speaking on the occasion, RWD minister Kumar Waii in his brief speech, pledged all possible assistance from his behalf. He called on the leaders to work selflessly for the welfare of the people and to march forth beyond the vision of the former chief minister of the state, late Dorjee Khandu. Backing Parliamentary secretary for hydro power Phurpa Tsering, he too emphasized on the need of tapping hydro power. chairman APEDA Dikto Yaker, Chairman DoKAA Jambey Wangdi, DC Tawang Abishek Dev and ZPC Tawang also spoke on the occasion.
