KUNJI JAGORA ABUN KOYI. Sheikh Jingir faults Islamic clerics for breaking fast with Jonathan Following the hosting of some Islamic clerics to break their Ramadan fast last week Wednesday by President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, the National Chairman of Ulama’u Council of Jama’atul Izalatil Bid’ ah Wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, has faulted some Islamic clerics who honoured the invitation, describing it as embarrassing. It would be recalled that last week, Jonathan invited some Islamic scholars to break their fast with him, at the Presidential Villa. Jingir explained that he sees no importance to break their fast with somebody who was not a Muslim and who has not fasted. Sheik Jingir said this yesterday in Jos, during a Ramadan lecture, organized by JIBWIS youth, where he reminded that the present security challenges in the country should not have allowed the clerics to accept such invitation by the president, knowing well that muslims were being killed, adding that it was a deception by the president to invite Muslims to break any fast. “Your people in Bauchi, Borno, Yobe and other places are being killed every day, but because of your selfishness and taste for food, you went to Abuja. It is shameful. The president and other government officials have every opportunity to stop the killing in the North but did not.” Jingir added that “The Igbo in Nigeria today are at peace in the North; they are doing their businesses peacefully and live without any difficulty, but they are now harassing the Northerners in their area.” He further appreciated the effort of the youth, for organising such lectures, adding that this would help to bring togetherness among Muslims in the country.
