KWs musings: in 1992 I fell deeply in love with a girl at WCU and thought I had it all, but I didnt. The girl in question was not a very strong person and was incapable of understanding that my life MUST be in music. To be fair, I probably wasnt the best candidate for her, either. I had some growing up to do. I was a Classic case-lots of ability, but very little knowledge of how to make it work as a career. However, I was soon to start the process that brought me to where I am today, for it was actually my infant son and his needs that made me go to TN to find work as a musician and music educator. Its the hardest and most wonderful thing Ive ever done, but Im proud to say I raised a child with my music. Relationships have come and gone(good riddance, mostly), but it was actually my son who walked with me through all the good times and bad. I dont have riches or fame, but Ive got the satisfaction of being in the big leagues of the musicians around here, of having seen a one-of-a-kind band program built from the ground up, and Ive been a loving dad to a special kid. And i have incredible friends. Thats more than enough for now.
