Kaavya & Lakshmi, thanks for the nomination. This is an interesting challenge, coz I get the chance to see what books are recommended/nominated, that I havent read yet. And after this status, Ill resume the search for more new books! My 10 books, or the Ten Books that Influenced or Stayed with Me (10Bism?) in no order of endear-ation would be: 1. A Study in Scarlet - Sir A. C. Doyle [first ever Sherlock Holmes book Id read] 2. The Harry Potter Series - J. K. Rowling [for being the modern fairytale that it was!] 3. The Name of the Wind - Patrick Rothfuss [for the unexpected adventure it is, for the reader and the protagonist himself!] 4. A Thousand Splendid Suns - Khaled Hosseini [the title says more than I can ever] 5. The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova [Logic for a myth] 6. The Palace of Illusions - Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni [from the eyes of a woman in one of the most controversial periods of Indian History] 7. The Fault in our Stars - John Green [for the two sides of a coin it offered: bliss and torture in short, sweet, terrible lifetimes] 8. What Makes You Not a Buddhist - Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche [because it made me question everything I had always believed in, and had me terrified for days at just one-third of the way in] 9. The Bartimaeus Trilogy - Jonathan Stroud [because of the layers of mythology, science and alternate universes it had wrapped stories with] 10. The Oath of the Vayuputras - Amish [for a great many philosophical truths masked between lines of an ancient story, and for the clever puns I can never forget] What almost made it : Ramayana (Kamban version), The Labyrinth (Kate Mosse), The Bonesetters Daughter - Amy Tan, The Devil and Miss Prym - Paulo Coelho, The Six Cousins - Enid Blyton I nominate: Janani Kumaran (reason: curiosity), Aparna Ramachandran (reason: interest to find new books), Prashanthi Devaraj (reason: POV). (Sivagnanavathy Ksk - I know at least 2 other nominated you, so this is just a prodding. Go on, girl. Put those books up!)
